You do not know what your missing until you experience more.
The more you mod a 1996, the less the mods offer compared to the early models with the same mods.
The Difference is the cams and VTC, they can be added to make the 1996 as powerful as the earlier years.
The stock cars are still a blast to drive, but if power is the goal, it is more cost effective to start with a pre 96. All the mods you add to a early car will offer more bang for the buck than a 1996 unless you upgrade the cams and add VTC.
For places that require smog, the 1996 will always be more difficult to pass once the car is modded.
